New Holiday!
by dustin on Sep.30, 2009, under Roasting Co. Ashland
May sound strange, but I think we at the Rogue Valley Roasting Co are going to be implementing a new holiday here in beautiful Ashland, OR. Not one that happens only once a year, once a leap year, or anything like that. No, I mean, once a MONTH! Every second Monday of the month will henceforth be known as “Manic Monday’s at the RoCo!” What does this mean to you, our esteemed regulars and visitors? It means that every second Monday of the month, if you dress along the guidelines of the fun themes we come up with, you can get ANY 20oz coffee (or smoothie) drink for the price of the equivalent 16oz’er, or a 16oz coffee (or smoothie) drink for the price of the 12oz! The first big hurdle is the fact that we need to come up with themes for each Manic Monday at the RoCo. Anyone have any ideas? I’d love some input from you all! Help us make the Rogue Valley Roasting Co the most fun coffee shop in Ashland! :) Stay tuned on Facebook for details about the first Manic Monday, coming up on October 12th!!

DUSTIN,
A coffee shop is a place to gather with friends , exchange ideas, read or study while keep warm or cool. The idea of wearing checkered shorts in the winter or what ever to save 50 cents is not at all appealing. i think your idea is too gimmicky. How about afternoon lectures? Or meetings with Peter Buckley, the Mayor , or a local environmentalist. Something that pertains to human growth? Even a stand up comic at 5 oclock. i like the ROCO. But dressing in a “fun” theme may turn me off. who knows!! You asked . i would look for “hip” more than “fun” as a type of clientel you may wish to attract. Who has the money, the youth or the yuppies?
By the way , i will be flying back form buffalo on the 12th

Steve,
Though I see your points (all valid for sure), I think you might be missing what my aim in this is. It’s a voluntary participation, not a requirement for anyone. I’m not trying to cater to kids, I’m trying to cater to anyone and everyone. This is just one more way to try and connect with my great customers (much like posting comments on this here blog entry). I know most people won’t buy into it, but it’s something fun for those that do. As far as the ideas of having meet and greet sessions with dignitaries go, that is a great idea and definitely something I’d be up for looking into in the future!
To the rest…yes yes yes :) great ideas, but I don’t think toga’s would go over TOO well :P
